Refurbishment of an existing apartment
The apartment constitutes the entire top floor of a listed residential building from the late 1800s.
The roof over the living and dining room originally had a flat ceiling with a height of about 2.4 meters. This ceiling has been removed, and the room has been opened all the way up to create an open and airy feel.
In continuation of the living room a multifunctional box that accommodates storage and a play cave for children with an additional double bed has been added. The inside and parts of the exterior of the box is clad in colored MDF plates in a warm hue to enhance the effect of this being a safe cave where one can retreat.
The original kitchen is partially retained, but supplemented with components in solid ash to give the room a warmer feel.
